SEAT is enough to use a vps with 2g RAM, but for AA a 2g RAM vps won't work, I've tried it and in less than half a day the server was forced to shut down.

I'm working on both AA and SEAT right now, (I'm a total noob with no experience in this area), and the hard part for me at the moment is the mumble authorization for SEAT and the data view for AA (corp taxes and spending)

seat can view tax and cost. aa need other sever to view it.

basically does everything, except a good timer board, and structure notifications sorta suck

Don't forget people just going through github or whatnot and adding random packages that align with eveseat...

tbh if its just your corp....seat will almost certainly be easier for you to deal with and will cover (nearly) any base that a corp needs.

AA you will have to setup a dev instance and try out a bunch of different plugins looking for the things you want..and basically reinstalling between each change...once you figure out your perfect mix of AA plugins, how to configure them and get them all the play nice, and then hire a web dev to make it not look like a 90s geocities website...you're good to go

Its a plugin frame work, and its probably the best at that of any eve product ever, and it has a giant install and user base...but its still a plugin framework

Parity is an irrelevant concept because AA would need additional plugins to be equivalent to a seat install with plugins

I actually like aa. as a noob, I can just read the tutorials and successfully build it successfully, and there are a lot of plugin features in it.

As for why I ended up using seat, despite all the great things I said about aa, the guy who came to me to set up the service ultimately wanted to use seat, and he gave me two reasons (the aa need to enter an email and 2 api authorisations - a public one and a permissions one).🥲

It's not an intrusion on your data as you don't own the data at all. The intent and purpose of seat is to facilitate the management of organised groups in eve, for past present and future members. EG for future members, their characters can be vetted prior to entry to a group. For present members things like tax calculations, counter-intelligence operations and communications management are common. For past members it may be retroactive theft analysis, counter intelligence and other activities. I will reiterate! Everything you do in game is not your data but that of CCP.

If I had to comply with GDPR request for SeAT, I would delete your IP address and user agent string. The rest of the data is not considered personal data and thus does not fall under GDPR. The game data is owned by CCP, and they have full control over this data, as you agreed to when you signed up.

Many people thinks that because you created your character, named it, played it you own that character and all data but in fact you are only 'renting' it. Everything is still owned by CCP.

I think you'll have to clarify your question a bit - ESI keys are technically good as long as not revoked via password reset or manual removal assuming they are refreshed periodically enough.

Apologies if this has been discussed before - nothing comes up through the search function 🙇 I set SeAT 5 up recently and noticed the Mining Ledger's estimated values (for some of Fullerites, C70 in this example) are not accurate, despite the price data in the Market Browser being consistent. In the attached example the estimated value should be around the 30m mark, rather than 1.4m. Is this a known issue, or could I be doing something wrong?

why not try it out? it is available for both seat 4 and 5 while (still) being 99% the same.

In terms of features, not much has changed. The only significant new thing I can think of are discord notifications with pings. What did change is mostly behind the scenes, like moving to a newer version of the laravel framework seat is built on. These things don't add anything for users, but it is still needed so that seat remains maintainable in the long run. usually, there is a detailed changelog in the github releases: https://github.com/eveseat/web/releases https://github.com/eveseat/eveapi/releases and in the other repos

There is no standard method for calculating prices so prices will vary provider to provider. Its a matter of preference.

To get the Corp level of information (esi), would need access/permission from the Administration Role Management to see or get notifcations like, station fuel or if a station is getting hit, corp assets, etc??

Running into a strange issue I've never had before. I had to reinstall Seat and with this new install, everyone is able to everyone elses characters. Is there a new feature I need to switch off to avoid this?

The only way I can think of to grant that kind of access is either a role or admin rights within SeAT, or the person has director or CEO - in which case they can see all characters and data in their respective corp(s). Strange if you saw that and none of those applied for sure.

so i am asking this here cause this is one of the few servers im on that i might get the answer from really but.... anyone here have any idea why i would not be able to see a linux / docker / 2022 sql server with the 2022 devops installer on a windows server 2019 machine - but i can see and connect to the same sql server from with smss on the same and other machines? all firewalls on both sides are guaranteed off and not blocking communication, docker is ran on 1433 : 1433 but moving it to another port does not help the problem only seems to exist with the devops installer

Yeah cheers, I had seen the issue from somewhere else you linked. its good to have it all in one place. In our case we dont validate against the swagger spec so the invalid data doesnt affect us as badly, but can get some wonky behaviour in th UI because of that.

As to the missing data now... I really want those structures to work and will jump on implementing features regarding them if we ever get that data

Most of the time when I see that it's because of the random state value got a little big.... It's kind of funny.... Just have them log out and back in a couple times and it should fix it

Feel free to ask for help in #channel_821361546608508938, but my personal recommendation would be to do one of these things at a time. Either migrate your existing install to v5 and then transfer it (after verifying it works), or transfer it on v4, verify everything works, and then migrate it up. Doing both at once has a much higher risk of something going wrong and the documented upgrade process starts from a working up-to-date instance of v4.

I made a fresh VM, installed all the prerequisites (bare metal install), copied over the v4 database and .env file, then upgraded the v4 DB to v5 and went from there, it was really straightforward

not sure if this is the right place to post but was hoping to get some advice: I created a role "Super Pilots" for pilots that own a supercarrier or titan. the idea is that pilots automatically get added to this role by creating a "Super Pilots" squad that searches all users' inventory for a supercarrier or titan. this is how I made the filter:

With your rule, I would do it in 2 stages. First is match kind all Corp or alliance is whatever corp or alliance you're in, then add a group that is any with all the ships you want

Just so if someone leaves the corp they don't keep the squad rights

Especially if you use it for a discord role for channel access etc

I am looking at setting up SeAT to replace eve hr (which we currently use) but I am not sure how to go about setting it up. Does it need a web server or a VPS. I have also not really done much website coding as I have mostly coded either C

@user_389205565693362176 If it is of any help, we have done exactly the same. We used a VPS (Ubuntu 20.04) as shell access is a lot easier to install SeAT IMHO. We went with Fasthosts as our VPS provider. We did try DigitalOcean, but had issues with the scripts installing. We followed the instructions for the Bootsrap install on the main SeAT site. No coding knowledge really needed as the instructions are very precise and clear. Just make sure you follow the instructions as given precisely (on our first attempt, we accidentally missed a step that threw the whole install). Best advice - read through the proceedure fully first. SeAT worked first time for us after realising our error.

@user_389205565693362176 - It certainly does. I am UK based myself 🙂 SeAT, as far as we can tell, works like EVE-HR in most ways. We use it to conduct all our security checks on new recruits. There is also a HR plugin (community package) that can also be added to SeAT, amongst others.

We run everything - HR, Buyback, Discord handler and SRP - through the one SeAT server.

Yes they do it's new server so probably promotion. You don't have to stick with it u can make it more for yourself later on configuration

If you are after CPU performance yes. For what I've been selfhosting, CPU performance has always been less of an issue than how much RAM I have.

Well yes but no... I mean cost is relative. Seat is a reasonably heavy application but it really depends on scale. How many toons do you have that will be registered? How often do you need data to update?

At that smaller size, you could likely get away with a non dedicated vps. So look at suppliers like linode or digital ocean or vultr

For additional context, They wouldn't let us change nameservers, So I delegated a subdomain to cloudflare and let cloudflare handle the subdomain part.. and support was like "Not possible" well if it's not possible why is it working..?

this is pretty step-by-step, although if you've never done anything in a linux CLI environment it might not be that easy

I went through all of it....not sure what is wrong but my Apple Silicon Mac doesnt like the -j in unzip and if i remove it then it creates a new folder ...then i ahve to manually move everything....the sed command throws errors.... it's very well laid out but some thigns just dont work for me.... Also it's a step by step for hosting it on my computer but if i wanted to set it up on AWS/Azure etc. no clue...

The guide is made for linux. Mac os is very similar to linux when it comes to the terminal, but it is not 100% the same, so some things might not work exactly like in the guide

On AWS/Azure, you‘d create a VM, connect to it via ssh, do the installation as in the guide and point DNS to it(the very short version)

But before you go AWS or azure, also consider providers like hetzner and OVH. They can be cheaper (and simpler) than AWS/Azure
